In today’s fact we learn about Sea Shanties! Mr. Toes teaches us where Sea Shanties come from, and might even have a shanty to share with you.
The Fact a Day:
Traceable to at least the 1400’s, the sea shanty hails from the days of merchant tall ships. The Shanty was a working song that allowed sailors to be synchronized during heavy manual tasks. Singing in rhythm helped everyone lift and move at the same time.
